The gift of incense points to the deity of Christ

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (Matthew 2:11)

The second gift that was brought to Jesus was incense. This was used in worship of God and as with the gold indicates to us that Jesus was (and is) more than just a good man, prophet, teacher or example. He was God in the flesh. The incarnation.
Throughout the Bible the offering of incense is only to be used towards God, it is never from man to man.
It is so important that we see Jesus for who he is, otherwise the picture we build will be a distorted one.
If he’s a created being then we will always fall short of the truth. But when we truly see him as the creator then what a difference that makes. It’s a whole new ball game.
