The new season began last night as six teams took to the field to launch their Summer Cup campaign. The early leader in the group is Crestwood Town FC, who beat Tipton Family Church FC 6-1. It was just 1-0 at the break but an early second half goal gave the stripes the advantage which they took hold of.

The closest game on paper was the contest between B&Q and Lions, and as far as entertainment went, it didn’t disappoint. In a 13-goal thriller it was the latter who took the points as they edged the match 8-5. Kyle Haden shot to the top of the goal scoring leader board as he found the net four times, followed by Adam Chester’s hat-trick.

Brandhall & Quinton FC 5 Adam Chester (3), Dave Wall (2) MOTM: Dave Wall
New boys United FC got off to a decent start, as they battled out a 2-2 draw with Kingsbourne, who have proved to be a really difficult team to beat in recent times. Both teams will no doubt be happy to get something on the board. Nathan Spear commented that it was ‘A good clean game, very close’.
Kingsbourne 2 Jake Spear, Nick Westwood MOTM: Luke Ellis
United FC 2 Tom Smith (2) MOTM: Tom Smith
