Lions off to a flying start (SICM Sevens)

3 5 4 2 1

With just two weeks gone, the only team with an 100% record intact is Allstar Lions. Last night they ended Crestwood’s good start to the season as they ran out 7-4 winners. Very early days yet, but they are already showing their intention as they set out to defend the treble. Regarding the Lions, our thoughts go out to Martyn Shepherd who is out for a minimum of 12 weeks with an injury.

Allstar Lions 7     Goals:Jason Perry (2), Matt Nicholls (2), Danny Bell, John Morgan, Kyle Haden     MOTM: Jason Perry

Crestwood Town FC  4     Goals: Alex Perry (2), Rhys Harper (2)     MOTM: Rhys Harper

Following their opening day defeat, it was back to business as usual for Brandhall, however no-one would have expected an 11-0 result against Kingsbourne, who are normally very tough to break down. Well done to Dan Lodge and Adam Chester who both found the net four times each.

Brandhall & Quinton FC 11     Goals: Dan Lodge (4), Adam Chester (4), Paul Hewitson, Matt McCardle, Dave Wall     MOTM: Dan Lodge

Kingsbourne 0     MOTM: Dan Spear

Obviously not the result of the night, as they lost, but arguable the performance of the evening goes to Church On The Rock FC. Entering their first Summer Cup they got off to a flying start, going into the break 2-1 up in their game with Tipton Family Church. And it was no fluke either, they were the better team by far. Although TFC rallied, thanks to a hat-trick from Jez Jeavons, the 6-2 result didn’t reflect how close the game was. As Carl Jukes wrote on the match sheet: ‘Good performance, ran out of steam towards the end’.

Church On The Rock FC 2     Goals: George Adams (2)     MOTM: George Adams

Tipton Family Church FC 6     Goals: Jez Jeavons (3), Craig Donaldson (2), Adam Siviter     MOTM: Stewart Bloor

As you can see in this week’s update we’ve included an embedded tweet associated with each game. Want to be featured? Then make sure you follow @SICMSevens on Twitter and each week we’ll pick out a random tweet and feature it.

Below is the table, which is looking good for Allstar Lions at the moment. The format is that we play each other once and the top four go into the seeded semi-finals, with 1st v 4th and 2nd v 4rd.
