Thoughts from 2 Corinthians 11 (Will the real Paul please stand up?)

Imagine going back in time 2,000 years with the intention of locating the Apostle Paul. You come across two bands of people.
One has a strong following and when he preaches, a healthy offering is always taken as the congregation sow seeds to receive from God. He himself is an outward show of affluence, proof that the giving works. He’s on good terms with the authorities and God’s protection keeps him from persecution.
The other figure has nothing but opposition, even from within the church people attack him. He’s not wealthy, far from it, he has to take a job to raise support and is very much dependent upon the generosity of others. Life is tough, it’s obvious to many that he doesn’t have God’s blessing upon his life or else he wouldn’t be in that position.
Will the real Paul please stand up?
