Some people are so suspicious of others that they live a guarded life that is akin to an emotional castle. The drawbridge is well and truly closed to others.
That’s not good, but neither is opening up to all and sundry and telling your life story to everyone you meet. Ironically the first group were once probably the latter, it’s their way of dealing with hurt.
Be guarded but not closed. Be open but not naive.
