Well done, Tipton Family Church FC (SICM Sevens)

Last night saw the final of The Summer Cup, featuring the two big guns, Allstar Lions and Brandhall & Quinton FC. It was always going to be close, and at 2-2 it goes to a replay.

With the big boys playing in the cup, Tipton Family Church FC took advantage by moving equal top on points and third on goal difference, as they beat Crestwood Town FC 5-1. The latter had a player sent off, that obviously gave TFC the edge, but the score was 2-0 at that point anyway.

After such a miserable couple of seasons, it’s good to Tipton off to a good start. And well done to Dave Law, the top marksman on the night with 4 goals. In fact, the team are currently the league’s leading scorers!

Ensuring that we have had the closest start for years, with five teams on three points, United FC pulled off a very convincing 4-1 win over Kingsbourne. Nothing separates them on paper, and if the latter had won they would have gone to the top of the table.
