The juggernauts roll on (SICM Sevens)

In last night’s league games, the ‘big two’ continued their respective good starts to the season, as they both brushed off their challengers in style. Allstar Lions continue to set the pace and their goal difference was helped along by a 10-2 victory over United FC.

Amazingly the score was just 1-1 at the break, but hat-tricks from Kyle Haden and Matt Nicholls ensured they won comfortably in the end. Although lots of players get mentions every week for their goalscoring feats, the shout-out of the season so far goes to Rob Bradley, United FC’s keeper, who scored from his own box. Well done, Rob. Brilliant!

Allstar Lions  10     Goals: Kyle Haden (3), Matt Nicholls (3), Paul Nash (2), Peter Madge, John Morgan     MOTM: Paul Nash

Brandhall & Quinton FC, the only other team with a 100% record, kept up their challenge with an equally convincing win. Hitting double figures, like the Lions, but conceding four sets them back slightly. But of course, it’s all about the points and they won’t be disappointed too much with that.

The second half was 4-4, but of course the damage, as far as Kingsbourne were concerned, was done in the first twenty-five as they went into the break 6-0 down.

It’s not often Adam Chester has been upstaged of late, and he even scored three himself, but Dave Wall was on fire as he bagged two hat-tricks.

Kingsbourne  4     Goals: Nathan Spear, Josh lees, Adam Kennedy, Tom Barlow     MOTM: Adam Kennedy

We also had a friendly as Tipton Family Church FC sought revenge after their recent defeat at the hands of Church On The Rock FC. Although Tipton had their noses just in front throughout the game, it was a very close affair until the very end and the score doesn’t reflect how tight it was.

Well done to Dave Law, who scored six times. It looks as if Tipton has found themselves a goalscorer, which has been one of their problems in recent seasons. And also the reason why, even though they didn’t play in the league, they maintain their third-placed position. Also, a shout-out to Simon Westwood for his hat-trick.

Church On the Rock FC  4     Goals: Stephen Goreham (2), Allan Parkes, Jordan Pratt     MOTM: Richie Fisher
