The clash of the titans ends all-square (SICM Sevens)

In tonight’s games we saw the clash of the titans, as the big two went head-to-head for the third time so far this season. With four league games scheduled, plus two Summer Cup ties played and a replay to come, that is at least seven games we have to look forward to.

Tonight though belonged to Brandhall, or so it seemed. Leading 5-1 and with Lions ending up with 2 red cards, they will be disappointed that the game finished all-square at 5-5. Lots of controversy, pretty heated at times, but as with all our fixtures, once the whistle went there was no carry-on. Goal-machine Adam Chester scored another hat-trick.

Allstar Lions  5   Aaron Lloyd (2), John Morgan (2), Matt Nicholls     MOTM: Aaron Lloyd

Brandhall & Quinton FC  5     Adam Chester (3), Dave Wall (2)     MOTM: Dan Lodge

Third-placed Tipton Family Church FC went into their game with Kingsbourne with their best start for years giving them confidence that they could build on. Unfortunately though, it was their opponents that took the points.

Tipton can draw comfort though from the face that 0-3 at the break, they actually won the second-half 2-1. Well done to Josh Spear for a hat-trick.

Kingsbourne FC  4     Josh Spear (3), Josh Lees     MOTM: Josh Spear

Tipton Family Church FC  2     Jez Jeavons, Robin Davies     MOTM: Andy Lewis

With points definitely affecting places at this stage of the season, the bottom-two clubs took to the pitch with lots at stake. It wasn’t looking good for Crestwood, who have been seriously struggling for players of late, as they only had 6 on the pitch.

Amazingly though, they won 7-4, with Rhys Harper back on form as he ended the night’s top goalscorer with four. Well done Crestwood, a battling performance indeed.

United FC  4   Danny Hampton (2), Brandon Freeman, Simon Robinson     MOTM: Danny Hampton

Crestwood Town FC  7     Rhys Harper (4), James Lowe (2), Joe Colley     MOTM: Rhys Harper

Finally, we’ve closed the doors on new teams entering the league this season, but with the DBMT competition not that far away, that is an ideal opportunity for anyone to test the water. If you know of anyone that may be interested, ask them to get in touch asap. It’s a great opportunity for a weekend team to use it as a ‘training session’.
