Congratulations to Allstar Lions who tonight lifted the first trophy of the season as they beat Brandhall 6-4. With nothing to choose between the two teams, it was no surprise that it took a replay to finally decide the winners of The Summer Cup. Commiserations to B&Q but tonight belongs to the Lions so well done to them.

Unless one of the pack really comes on, and either of the cup finalists crumble, the league this season looks like being a two-horse race. The chasing group are very evenly matched though, and a glance at the table prior to tonight’s fixtures confirmed that, with just three points separating them. It’s certainly going to add some competition for third place.
After two consecutive wins, Crestwood went from basement to third, but would they make it a hat-trick against TFC, who have been much improved this season so far under the direction of new manager, Alex F. That’s Fice, by the way, not the other one.
Crestwood Town FC 3 Rhys Harper, Iain Gillett, Joe Colley MOTM: James Lowe
Tipton Family Church FC 2 Dave Law (2) MOTM: Mark McCann
In the other game, which again on paper was really close, the teams shared the points. The draw was enough to lift United FC off the bottom.
United FC 3 Nick Harrold (2), Matthew Potts MOTM: Matthew Potts
Kingsbourne 2 Josh Lees (2), Andrew Kennedy MOTM: Josh Lees
Looking ahead, we will be starting the DBMT competition in December, so if anyone is interested in entering a team, then get in touch asap. There will be a group stage prior to the knock-out stages and you will be playing every other week, so not intense commitment. That way you get a chance to see what it’s all about and if it’s going to work out for you for future possible league involvement.
