Following a suggestion from United FC’s Rob Bradley, prior to kick-off yesterday evening, we held a one-minute’s silence. Impeccably observed by those who assembled, it was the first time we have done this, and it would be nice if this became an annual occurrence.
The top game of the evening featured first and second in the table, Allstar Lions and Crestwood Town FC. How would the reigning champions respond after their shock defeat last week?
Well, as it turned out, there were no wobbles this time round and they took the points in a 6-1 victory. Matt Nicholls scored a hat-trick.
Allstar Lions 6 Matt Nicholls (3), Paul Nash (2), John Morgan MOTM: Sam Landucci
Crestwood Town FC 1 Rhys Harper MOTM: Joe Colley
Although down to third-place prior to kick-off, Brandhall & Quinton were looking to get back on track as they took on bottom club Tipton Family Church FC. They did so with a convincing scoreline of 11-2. Dave Wall found the net four times, but amazingly the next top scorer was og with 2!
The win puts them back into second spot, and for their opponents, after a reasonable start to the season, they find themselves falling further behind what is now a top-four of teams on double-points.
Brandhall & Quinton FC 11 Dave Wall (4), og (2), Gavin Calver, Paul Hewitson, Matt McArdle, Dan Lodge, Martyn Pryce MOTM: Dan Lodge
Tipton Family Church FC 2 Luke Henson, Dave Law MOTM: Luke Henson
Following on from their fantastic victory last week versus Allstar Lions, Kingsbourne went into their game with United FC full of confidence. Although they went 2-0 down they battled back to share the spoils in a six-goal thriller.
