In the one league game from last night, Allstar Lions extended their lead at the top as they beat United FC 8-1. In only their fourth tie against their opponents, Lions ensured that they remain unbeaten. And with five goals needed to make it 1,500 in their history, they did it in style, helped along by Danny Bell’s hat-trick.

With the David Bloor Memorial Trophy now underway, Crestwood and Kingsbourne squared up for their second and final game against each other in the group stage. Having won the first encounter 6-4, the former went into the game as favourites. Apart from this season overall, Kingsbourne only had four wins to their name against their opponents in fifteen attempts.
The form book ran as it should, as the second 8-1 of the evening saw Josh Owen’s hat-trick help Crestwood to a dominating position at the head of their group. Although Lions and Brandall are yet to feature, six points on the board is a big confidence booster for the stripes.

Kingsbourne 1 Rob Pain MOTM: Jack Lewis
After a couple of convincing friendlies, Dudley made their debut proper as they took on the league’s basement club Tipton Family Church FC, in the DBMT. And to complete the trio of 8-1 results, they went to the top of their group after one game.Steven Bird grabbed a hat-trick, ensuring that each winning team tonight had one player that scored three goals.
Scott Morton got MOTM on his 125th appearance for Tipton, and Jez Jeavons scored his 100th goal, so at least there was some consolation for them as individuals. The biggest shout-out of the evening though goes to Dudley’s keeper, Jim McKinney, who scored from a kick. Obviously the wind helped, but that’s still a way to go on your debut!

Dudley FC 8 Steven Bird (3), Nick Harrold (2), Ade Lunn (2), Jim McKinney MOTM: Steven Bird
