Going into their David Bloor Memorial Trophy opener, the form book was firmly in favour of Allstar Lions as they were unbeaten in eight previous outings against Brandhall & Quinton. However, as the title of this week’s update informs, the night belonged to the reds who took the points in an eleven-goal thriller.

Dave Wall was back to his best as he found the net four times and Mr SICM Sevens Stato, Dan Spear, tells us that Brandhall have now scored in forty-nine consecutive games in all competitions.

The other DBMT game was in Group A as Dudley FC extended their 100% start to their campaign by beating Church On the Rock FC 9-0. It was a fast-flowing game with both teams contributing to the good spirit that prevailed.

Nick Harrold scored four times and it will be interesting to see how the new boys fare when they get round to playing the top teams in the knockout stages.Title contenders for next season? It will be interesting to see how that works out; they certainly look good enough at this stage.

Crestwood Town FC celebrated their 175th league game with a victory against Tipton Family Church FC. They are the in-form team at the moment and the only regret that they will have on the night is that Lions’ defeat was in the DBMT and not the league. As it is they still have an uphill struggle, but as they say, it’s not over till the fat lady sings.

Kyle Smith was the top scorer on the night with five with Tipton’s manager Alex Fice making his 75th appearance for the blues.

After twenty-three consecutive games in which they have scored, United FC drew a blank in their game with Kingsbourne. The only movers in the table, the three points lifts the victors into third place, with Jack Lewis grabbing a hat-trick.
