CRESTWOOD CRUISE INTO SEMIS (SICM Sevens)

All of tonight’s games were in the David Bloor Memorial Trophy, with Crestwood Town the first team to reach the semi-finals. With such a lead from the first leg (25-1), it was a formality really that they would progress.

They did it in style, with an eventual 7-2 victory, although it was just 1-0 at the break. Kyle Carter was the top scorer on the night with four.

Church On The Rock FC  2     Jordan Pratt, Sean Bastable     MOTM: Michael Goreham

The other two fixtures, on paper at least, were difficult as far as pre-match predictions were concerned. With no history between Brandhall and Dudley FC there was no form to go by. Observing both teams, it could be argued that either one could win on their day, so it was an interesting quarter-final.

As it happened, Brandhall take a two-goal advantage into the second leg courtesy of a 6-4 victory. Connor Potts scored a hat-trick for Dudley.

Brandhall & Quinton FC  6     Dan Lodge (2), Will Rivers (2), Matt McCardle, Mitch Stevenson     MOTM: Dan Lodge

A couple of months or so ago, the fixture between Tipton and Kingsbourne would have been a formality. However, a rejuvenated team under the leadership of Alex Fice has seen the blues improve considerably. Therefore, another balanced tie was the prospect as the teams went head-to-head.

And it was Tipton, keeping a clean sheet for the second week on the bounce, who took a slender lead into the second game.
