In SICM Sevens (the fund-raising football league that we run) we have a fine-system for teams that includes 50p per item of kit that doesn’t match. This is extended to individual players for red and yellow cards.
As far as the league is concerned, the system is in place to raise standards. What we have been doing for some months now though, is to use the fine money to support a young boy in  Ghana. His name is Ishmeal.
Below is the latest update received from the Cape Coast. If you’re interested in sponsoring someone, contact us at It’s just £12 per month.
‘Ishmeal is doing well. It happened a few weeks ago, while he was playing football that he got injured on his shoulder, but now he has recovered. In fact last Saturday he trained with the children’s team, he did very well and was helpful to the team.
He likes serving others and it gives joy to him.
The biggest challenge is about his education, because his school is far from where he lives and he needs to leave home very early and come back home late.
We are praying to help him and we are thinking to help him for next year to be in a school near home and near the mission, in order to follow him closer.’
