On Monday evening we saw the first surprise result of the new season, as LS Galaxy ended their run of defeats with a convincing 7-3 win over reigning champions, Allstars 03. Having struggled so far in both their first game last week and the pre-season prior to that, it was a tremendous way for Bruce’s boys to get on track.

Dave Law stamped his authority on the game as he found the net four times. As he said to me in the foyer before leaving the leisure centre, there’s a headline in there. And there is, as you can see!

Next week, Galaxy take on Tipton, the team that they were birthed from. Not that there’s any animosity, the dividing was all totally friendly and done for football reasons as there was such a big squad. Nevertheless it will be an interesting fixture.

LS Galaxy 7     Dave Law (4), Rob James (2), Kieron Large      MOTM: Kieron Large

Allstars 03  3     Peter Madge (2), John Morgan     MOTM: Peter Madge

In the other scheduled game, United FC cancelled, therefore Crestwood picked up a 5-0 victory. Remember, there are also penalty-point deductions for a cancelled game. This is to minimise the number of cancellations that we have as they can be not only disruptive as far as the league is concerned but also costly in terms of pitches and referees.
