“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”
Matthew 12:35 NIV
Last night I had a dream in Welsh. The last thing I did before sleeping was study the language, so it was in my mind as I drifted off.
Whatever we put in will come out. If we put good stuff in, our thoughts and actions likewise will be positive.
The other side of the coin though is that if we put negativity, hatred, bitterness and anger in, don’t be surprised when junk comes out the other end.
We are too quick to blame others when our lives aren’t what we want them to be. While no man is an island and we are affected by the actions of others, as they are indeed by us, the reality is that it’s up to us to allow in what we want.
I went to sleep happy and I had a happy dream. In fact I’m thrilled this morning as it’s the first time I have dreamt in the language. It shows I’m moving on.
Imagine though if I went to bed having given conflict and turmoil a free pass. I’d probably be shattered this morning, drained and having fed the negative emotions, even worse now than I was last night.
You wouldn’t tell a burglar that you hide a spare key under the plant pot. Likewise don’t give negativity an open door. If we do either, we shouldn’t really be surprised at the result.
